Orestis Vardoulis is a postdoctoral scholar in Dr. James Wall's lab at Stanford Medicine's Division of Pediatric Surgery, based in Stanford, California. He previously earned a PhD in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, supported by a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Following his doctoral studies, he completed the Stanford Biodesign Fellowship Program in 2017 and conducted research on flexible electronics within Stanford's Chemical Engineering department. As an entrepreneur, he co-founded Zeit Medical, a health technology startup focused on stroke detection that raised over $250,000 in early funding. Vardoulis has also consulted for Microsoft Research on wearable vascular health devices and contributes to the UCSF-Stanford Pediatric Device Consortium. His background combines biomedical engineering and productization to develop wearable hemodynamic monitoring systems and internet-of-things medical devices for unmet clinical needs.
