Oren Etzioni is a Venture Partner at Madrona Venture Group and the Technical Director of the AI2 Incubator, based in Seattle, Washington. He previously served as the founding CEO of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2), scaling the organization to over 200 team members, and is a Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at the University of Washington. As an entrepreneur, he founded multiple artificial intelligence startups that resulted in notable acquisitions, including Farecast, which Microsoft purchased for $115 million in 2008, and Netbot, acquired by Excite for $35 million. His other ventures include Decide.com, acquired by eBay in 2013, ClearForest, acquired by Reuters, and the recently co-founded AI startup Vercept. Etzioni currently focuses on AI commercialization and combating digital disinformation as the CEO of TrueMedia.org, building upon a research career encompassing over 200 technical papers.
