Olaf Carlson-Wee

Olaf Carlson-Wee is the Founder, CEO, and Managing Member of Polychain Capital, a venture capital firm managing a $200 million fund focused exclusively on blockchain assets. Previously, he served as the Head of Risk and first employee at Coinbase, where he built a 40-person operations team and protected billions in transactional value across 30+ countries. During his tenure, he designed fraud prevention systems, trained agents on blockchain analysis for the Treasury Department, and received a civilian award from Homeland Security for assisting in a $10 million cyber-crime case. He holds a pending patent for a Bitcoin host computer system and earned a BA in Sociology from Vassar College, writing his thesis on distributed networking and financial cryptography. His current focus centers on scaling cryptocurrency infrastructure and directing institutional capital toward emerging decentralized blockchain technologies.
