Nuno Pereira

Nuno Pereira is the Founder and CEO of Lightway, a climate technology startup focused on commercial carbon capture deployment. Under his leadership, the company has raised a $3 million seed round and secured a carbon credits agreement with Morgan Stanley. His ventures have attracted backing and support from notable investors and institutions, including Y Combinator, Lowercarbon Capital, Deep Science Ventures, and Patrick Collison. As an advanced materials engineer, Pereira previously built modular electrochemical scrubbers and developed a Bayesian machine learning and robotics pipeline to automate materials research. Additionally, he is an extreme athlete who redesigned an Open 60 sailing boat and competed in the Downhill Skateboarding World Cup at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. His current focus centers on scaling direct air capture systems by integrating scalable electrochemistry with automated research and development pipelines.
