Nirav Shah

Nirav R. Shah is an Advisor at GSR Ventures and a Senior Scholar at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, based in Menlo Park, California. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for clinical operations at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California, and as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health. He currently holds additional leadership positions as an independent director at STERIS plc, a trustee at the John A. Hartford Foundation, and a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. A board-certified physician in internal medicine, Shah earned his degrees from Harvard College and Yale School of Medicine, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. His current work focuses on advancing digital health innovation, improving patient safety, and developing high-value care strategies for older adults.
