Nicolas Hourcard

Nicolas Hourcard is the co-founder and CEO of QuestDB, an open-source time-series database company based in London, England, United Kingdom. Before launching the platform, he previously worked as a quantitative developer at Société Générale, where he built his foundational expertise in financial engineering and distributed systems. Under his leadership, QuestDB has secured over $37 million in total funding, including a $20 million Series B round in May 2024, and acquired enterprise clients such as Puma and Delivery Hero. The open-source platform has achieved significant developer adoption, accumulating more than 20,000 GitHub stars and millions of downloads while expanding its cloud capabilities with the release of QuestDB Enterprise 3.0 in late 2025. Holding a professional charter from the CFA Institute, Hourcard currently focuses on bridging quantitative finance with high-performance computing to advance real-time analytics infrastructure.
