Neil Rimer is a Swiss-Canadian venture capitalist, a Retired Partner at Index Ventures, and the Co-Chair of the board of Human Rights Watch in Geneva, Switzerland. After earning degrees from Stanford University and Harvard Business School and working at Montgomery Securities, he co-founded Index Ventures in 1996 to bring Silicon Valley investing to Europe. During his tenure of over 25 years as a General Partner, he supported ambitious technology, fintech, and gaming entrepreneurs across Europe, the US, and Israel. Rimer led investments in over 160 portfolio companies and helped his firm raise more than five billion dollars in capital, with notable exits including Skype and the gaming company Supercell. Following his retirement from active investing in 2021, he continues to focus on his philanthropic board duties while his firm maintains offices in London, San Francisco, and New York.
