Myra Arshad is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of ALT TEX, a biomaterials startup based in Toronto, Canada. Before establishing ALT TEX, she launched fluidic, a direct-to-consumer lifestyle brand, and FarmBox, an AI micro-farming venture backed by the Hult Prize that was designed for refugee camps. Arshad earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business in 2018 and subsequently held corporate sales and marketing positions at various Fortune 500 companies. At ALT TEX, she leverages her family background in textile manufacturing to convert food waste into bioplastic fibers, earning the company a finalist position in the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Food Waste Reduction Challenge. Her current professional focus centers on developing biodegradable fabrics to reduce environmental impact within the sustainable fashion and global textile manufacturing sectors.
