Morgan DeFoort

Morgan DeFoort is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Factor[e] Ventures, an early-stage technology and impact investment firm based in Fort Collins, United States. Prior to establishing the venture builder in 2013, he served as Co-Director of the Energy Institute at Colorado State University, where he led research and development initiatives focused on engine systems, biofuels, and cookstoves. Through Factor[e], DeFoort manages pre-seed and seed-stage technology investments in global emerging markets and has secured long-term funding partnerships with organizations such as the Shell Foundation. He actively provides post-investment support and techno-economic analysis, holding formal board of director positions at portfolio companies including Odyssey Energy and Homer Energy. Drawing on over two decades of technology development experience, his current focus centers on scaling disruptive innovations across the energy, agriculture, mobility, and waste sectors throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
