Mitchell Finer

Mitchell Finer is an Executive Partner at MPM Capital, bringing over 33 years of experience to the cell therapy, gene therapy, and regenerative medicine sectors. He previously served as President of Research and Development at ElevateBio, a company he co-founded, and as Chief Executive Officer of its gene editing subsidiary, Life Edit Therapeutics. Prior to these roles, Finer was the Chief Scientific Officer at bluebird bio, where he led the development of three approved gene therapies including Abecma, Zynteglo, and Skysona. His academic background includes a doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University, an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Whitehead Institute at MIT. Holding 15 issued United States patents, Finer maintains a primary focus on advancing research, scaling manufacturing technologies, and driving commercialization across the biotechnology industry.
