Ming Ying is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of ParadeDB, a database technology startup based in San Francisco, California. He established the company to develop a modern Elasticsearch alternative built on Postgres, scaling the open-source project to over 7,000 GitHub stars and 100,000 installations within months of its late 2023 launch. Under his technical leadership, ParadeDB secured a $12 million Series A funding round led by Craft Ventures in July 2025, bringing the company's total capital raised to $14 million with additional backing from Y Combinator. Prior to founding ParadeDB, Ying studied Computer Science and Statistics at Harvard University and engineered backend architecture for the fintech platform Vaultima, where he contributed over 30,000 lines of production code.
