Milan Griffes

Milan Griffes is a Principal at Lionheart Ventures and a Strategic Advisor at the Qualia Research Institute, based in Portland, Oregon. Previously, he co-founded Atman, a startup acquired by Odyssey in 2024, and served as Head of Risk at Sendwave, a Y Combinator-backed fintech company that sold a unit to WorldRemit. Earlier in his career, Griffes worked as a Research Analyst at GiveWell after earning a Master of Health Science from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and bachelor's degrees from Michigan State University. As an active angel investor and syndicate lead, he has deployed tens of millions of dollars across more than twenty early-stage companies, achieving a gross multiple on invested capital exceeding 10x. His current investment focus centers on frontier technologies, artificial intelligence alignment, and novel approaches to sentient flourishing.
