Mikko Kumpulainen

Mikko Kumpulainen is a venture capital professional and the former Founding Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Voima Ventures, who is currently pursuing new opportunities outside the venture capital industry. During his tenure at the Nordic deep tech firm, he helped launch two funds and build a portfolio of more than thirty science-based companies. Kumpulainen oversaw twenty-three new investments, four exits, and one initial public offering, while reviewing over one thousand prospective deals. He specialized in sourcing early-stage investments and spin-offs originating from regional research institutions, including VTT, Business Finland, and various Nordic and Baltic universities. Under his financial leadership, the firm's portfolio companies collectively raised over €500 million in capital and expanded to employ more than one thousand people. His background centers on structuring early-stage deep tech investments and scaling science-backed startups for global markets.
