Mike Velings

Mike Velings is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Aqua Spark, an early-stage venture capital fund based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He oversees a portfolio of more than twenty companies and manages over $100 million in assets under management, targeting seed and Series A investments in the blue food economy. Before establishing Aqua Spark, Velings held investment roles at the Dutch pension fund PGGM, building extensive expertise in impact investing and sustainable agriculture. In October 2024, he announced a new €50 million fund dedicated to climate-resilient aquaculture, expanding a portfolio that already includes alternative protein and ocean tech startups such as BlueNalu. His work in sustainable seafood has been recognized by the World Economic Forum, and he frequently speaks at industry events like Seafood Expo Global. Velings currently focuses on financing technological innovation across global aquaculture systems.
