Mika Kukkurainen is a Co-founder and Managing Partner at Nordic Foodtech VC, an early-stage investment firm based in Helsinki, Finland. Established in 2019, the firm focuses on pre-seed and seed-stage deep tech investments across the Nordics and Baltics, writing initial checks ranging from several hundred thousand euros up to €2 million. Kukkurainen oversees two primary investment vehicles, including a €42 million inaugural fund that backed 18 startups and a second fund that recently announced a €40 million first close toward an €80 million target. Before establishing Nordic Foodtech VC, he worked as a business strategist and brand developer specializing in the commercial scaling of the food industry and retail sectors. His current investment focus centers on bridging scientific innovation and commercialization by backing companies developing sustainable proteins, alternative ingredients, and agricultural technologies to transform the global food system.
