Michael Szalontay

Michael Szalontay is a General Partner at Flashpoint VC based in Berlin, Germany. Before joining the firm in early 2023, he spent six years operating as a Principal and Partner at Point Nine Capital, following earlier investment roles at Cherry Ventures. Throughout his venture capital career, he has backed a portfolio of more than fifty early-stage European technology companies, including notable investments in Omio and the unicorn startup Personio, which was later acquired by SoftBank. Szalontay, who studied business at the University of Mannheim, recently led a 2024 Series A extension round for the artificial intelligence software startup Glean and spoke at TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin in October 2024. His current investment strategy focuses on providing seed and Series A funding to European startups building B2B SaaS platforms, financial technology, future-of-work applications, and developer tools.
