Michael Rome is the Head of the therapeutics investing practice at Foresite Capital, where he directs biopharma investments and serves on the boards of multiple portfolio companies. Before joining the firm, he worked as an investment analyst at DAFNA Capital Management covering the therapeutics sector. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology from Caltech, where he was a National Science Foundation Fellow, and a BS from UCLA. Rome has led several investments resulting in significant acquisitions, including XinThera's sale to Gilead Sciences, Affinivax's acquisition by GSK, and Turning Point Therapeutics' acquisition by BMS. He has also backed multiple biopharma companies that successfully completed initial public offerings, such as Pharvaris, Nurix, and CG Oncology. His current focus remains on bridging scientific expertise and institutional finance to support therapeutics company formation, mergers, and clinical financings.
