Michael Powell

Michael Powell is an Executive Partner at Omega Funds, a life sciences venture capital firm, based in San Francisco, California. Before joining the firm, he spent over fifteen years as a General Partner at Sofinnova Investments, where he managed clinical-stage biotechnology portfolios and led multiple institutional fund raises. Throughout his venture capital career, Powell has directed investments in numerous successful biopharmaceutical companies, holding board seats at prominent industry players including Ascendis Pharma and several other publicly traded firms. Prior to his transition into venture capital, he spent several years leading advanced drug delivery research and development at Genentech, following the completion of his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley. He currently focuses on funding and advising early-stage life sciences companies that are actively developing novel therapeutics for severe and unmet medical needs.
