Michael Malone

Michael Malone is currently an investor and advisor at AfterWork Ventures, based in Perth, Australia. He is best known for founding the telecommunications provider iiNet in 1993, where he served as Chief Executive Officer for over two decades. Under his leadership, iiNet grew to employ more than 2,500 staff and generated over $1 billion in annual revenue before being acquired by TPG Telecom for $1.56 billion in 2015. Following this exit, Malone transitioned into corporate governance, holding prominent board positions as a Director at NBN Co and Seven West Media. He has also leveraged his extensive operational experience to mentor emerging technology founders and allocate early capital within the growing Australian venture ecosystem. His current focus centers on supporting early-stage technology companies through strategic advisory roles and driving critical infrastructure development across the telecommunications sector.
