Michael Gutbrod

Michael Gutbrod is a Principal at Santé Ventures, an $800 million venture capital firm, based in Austin, Texas. Since joining the investment team in 2021, he has specialized in the firm's biotech portfolio, evaluating early-stage companies that develop novel therapeutics and technologies. Prior to his venture capital career, Gutbrod served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology within its Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. Concurrently, he worked as a visiting fellow in Harvard University's Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology, where he researched adult stem cell models for brain disorders. He holds a doctorate in biological sciences from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His current focus centers on merging deep learning applications with advanced biological research to identify promising healthcare investments.
