Mehlam Shakir

Mehlam Shakir is the Managing Director at DreamIt Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm and accelerator based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before assuming his current position, he served as the firm's Vice President of Investments and previously co-founded the startup Wedgeand, which culminated in a successful acquisition. Shakir has been personally involved in over 100 investments throughout his career, contributing to a broader DreamIt portfolio of more than 400 companies and 30 exits, including the sale of Visible Measures to Verizon. Under his direction, the firm announced a $5 million fund expansion in the first quarter of 2025, following his leadership of a 2024 healthtech cohort that resulted in ten new investments. He holds a computer science degree from the University of Pennsylvania and currently focuses on pre-seed investments across the artificial intelligence, healthtech, fintech, and enterprise software sectors.
