Matteo Cera

Matteo Cera is a Venture Partner at Pioneer Fund based in Berlin, Germany, where he focuses on sourcing and supporting pre-seed and seed-stage startups globally. Before transitioning to venture capital in 2023, he served as the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Flyr, a travel technology startup that raised over $300 million and achieved unicorn valuation status prior to its closure in 2024. His earlier career includes operational roles at Rocket Internet and management consulting experience at Boston Consulting Group, following his graduation from Bocconi University. In addition to his institutional work with Pioneer Fund's portfolio of more than 100 companies, he has built a personal track record of over 20 angel investments. Cera currently leverages his operational background to invest in and mentor early-stage founders building frontier technologies, artificial intelligence, developer tools, and climate tech.
