Matt Long

Matt Long is a software engineer currently serving as a member of the core software team at Y Combinator. He previously worked as an infrastructure engineer focusing on backend development and DevOps at Crocodoc, a Y Combinator Winter 2010 batch startup that was acquired by Box in May 2013. Following this corporate acquisition, Long transitioned directly to Box, where he continued his specialized engineering work from 2013 until 2015. He subsequently joined PlanGrid, a construction software startup from the Y Combinator Winter 2012 batch, where he held the senior position of Tech Lead for infrastructure engineering. In this capacity, he directed critical technical operations and system architecture. Throughout his professional trajectory across multiple venture-backed organizations, Long's primary technical focus remains centered on building scalable backend systems, designing robust APIs, and leading complex infrastructure development.
