Matt Hershenson is a Founding Partner and Venture Partner at Playground Global based in the Bay Area, California. After beginning his career as a manufacturing engineer at Apple and graduating from the University of Michigan, he co-founded Danger in 2000 to create the T-Mobile Sidekick before its acquisition by Microsoft. Following two years as a Partner in Hardware Engineering at Microsoft, Hershenson joined Google as Director of Hardware, where he built the Android hardware team and shipped over ten generations of devices. In 2015, he co-founded Playground Global, a venture capital firm that manages over $1.2 billion in assets across three funds and backs companies like Relativity Space and RightHand Robotics. His current investment strategy focuses exclusively on early-stage deep tech startups tackling significant risks in next-generation compute, automation, and engineered biology.
