Mary McCarthy

Mary McCarthy is a Paris-based Partner at Sofinnova Partners, serving as a key member of the firm's Industrial Biotech team. Appointed in April 2023, she helps manage a strategy encompassing 24 investments and a €175 million third fund focused on early-stage sustainable solutions. Prior to joining Sofinnova, McCarthy spent four years as a Partner and Fund Manager for the BVP Renewable Chemistry Fund at Brightlands Venture Partners, notably leading an €11 million investment round in Circularise alongside Neste. Her earlier career includes serving as the chief executive officer of a circular economy materials startup and spending 15 years at SABIC across corporate venturing, research and development, and change management. Holding a doctorate in organometallic chemistry, McCarthy leverages over 26 years of technical experience to invest in biotech-enabled advancements across the materials, agriculture, and chemical sectors.
