Markus Enzelberger

Markus Enzelberger is a Partner at Versant Ventures based in Basel, Switzerland, where he focuses on launching early-stage biotechnology companies through the firm's Ridgeline Discovery Engine. Prior to joining Versant as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence in 2020, he spent over two decades at MorphoSys, ultimately serving as Chief Scientific Officer and a member of the management board. During his tenure in venture capital, he played a key role in launching Bright Peak Therapeutics, a company developing novel cytokine proteins utilizing technology from ETH Zurich. He also contributed to the launch and development of Black Diamond Therapeutics, an oncology firm that successfully raised $231 million in its January 2019 initial public offering. Holding a doctorate from the Technical University of Stuttgart, Enzelberger currently focuses on Series A life sciences investments with specialized expertise in protein engineering and therapeutic drug discovery.
