Marianne Mertens

Marianne Mertens is a Partner at Apollo Health Ventures and the CEO of Booster Therapeutics, based in Bavaria, Germany. Before joining Apollo in 2021, she spent three years as a Principal at Wellington Partners and served as an Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds. Throughout her ten-year career in life sciences venture capital, Mertens has led investments in companies such as Cardior Therapeutics, which was acquired by Novo Nordisk, and Confo Therapeutics, which secured a licensing agreement with Eli Lilly. She currently holds board director positions at HAYA Therapeutics, Auron Therapeutics, and Cleara Therapeutics, drawing on her academic foundation in biotechnology from RWTH Aachen University and The Scripps Research Institute. Mertens also holds a doctorate in the molecular imaging of cardiac regenerative medicines. Her current investment focus centers on early-stage biotechnology and therapeutic companies developing targeted treatments for age-related diseases.
