Maria Velkova

Maria Velkova is the Chief Portfolio Officer at Aqua Spark, where she leads the firm's investment team. She previously served as an advisor to the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy, directing public policy initiatives centered on the country's green transition and national decarbonization efforts. In the private capital sector, Velkova held the title of Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Development at Enery, a renewable energy fund operating across Central and Eastern Europe. She also managed portfolio valuation strategies for Low Carbon, a UK-based investment fund dedicated to clean energy assets and technologies. Velkova earned a Master's degree in Energy Trade and Finance from Cass Business School in London. Her career combines public policy expertise with private market capital allocation, maintaining a primary focus on financing renewable energy infrastructure and advancing the global green transition.
