Marcus Erken

Dr. Marcus Erken is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Sunfish Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Berlin, Germany. Prior to establishing the investment vehicle in 2016, he co-developed the university incubator at WHU Vallendar, where he directly advised and supported more than 120 student-led startup initiatives. His academic credentials include a doctorate in entrepreneurship from RWTH Aachen University, alongside a tenure as a Visiting Research Fellow at Harvard University. In addition to his primary institutional fund management duties, Erken operates as an active angel investor who has allocated capital to various technology enterprises, including Ramp Network, Locad, and Reebelo. He also co-lectures an annual university course focused on company creation and data-driven engineering teams. His current professional focus centers on financing early-stage deep technology, defense, and space startups emerging from the Eastern European market.
