Marco Lobba

Marco Lobba is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Catena Biosciences, a biotechnology enterprise focused on advancing synthetic biology and molecular engineering applications. Before establishing his current startup, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he developed extensive technical expertise in complex molecular biology. During his doctoral tenure at UC Berkeley, Lobba conducted fundamental research jointly within the laboratories of prominent synthetic biologist Matt Francis and Nobel Prize-winning CRISPR pioneer Jennifer Doudna. His academic investigations primarily centered on the intersection of synthetic biology and advanced gene-editing technologies, establishing the critical scientific foundation necessary for his subsequent transition into commercial biotechnology leadership. Currently, Lobba combines his specialized molecular engineering background with executive management to direct Catena Biosciences in developing novel therapeutic and diagnostic approaches within the broader life sciences sector.
