Marcel van der Heijden

Marcel van der Heijden is a San Francisco-based venture capitalist and Partner at Fortino Capital, where he specializes in early-stage strategic technology investments across the broader European market. In his current role, he deploys capital from the firm's 105 million euro second fund to back emerging B2B SaaS and scalable software companies. Before joining Fortino Capital, he served as a General Partner at Speedinvest and held corporate technology positions at Microsoft and Vodafone. His operational experience includes founding multiple mobile startups during his doctoral studies and serving as a director at SOC OS Cyber Security Limited until his resignation in April 2021. He has recently directed new venture co-investments into enterprise software startups such as Simply Delivery, Salonkee, D2X, Reveall, and Timeseer AI, combining his foundational corporate experience with a dedicated professional focus on scaling early-stage European ventures.
