Marcel Lubben

Marcel Lubben currently serves as a Venture Partner at Brightlands Venture Partners and operates as the Vice President of Strategic Alliances at DMC Biotechnologies. Before assuming his current investment and alliance roles in May 2020, he worked as the Managing Director at Avantium Renewable Polymers. Operating through his independent advisory firm, Lubben Management BV, he holds multiple governance positions across the European biotechnology and cleantech sectors. His active board appointments include serving as the Chairman of the Board at Kaffe Bueno since December 2020, alongside supervisory and advisory roles at Vertoro, EnginZyme, Circularise, and PL BioScience GmbH. He earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Groningen, providing a technical foundation for his commercial career. Lubben focuses his ongoing investment and advisory efforts on scaling sustainable technologies, bio-based chemicals, and circular economy startups.
