Marcel Kubli

Marcel Kubli is a Venture Partner at BackBone Ventures based in Zurich, Switzerland. Before transitioning to the venture capital sector, he held key leadership positions at the e-commerce platform Digitec Galaxus and the eyewear brand VIU, where he specialized in retail expansion. In 2018, he co-founded the dental technology startup bestsmile alongside entrepreneurs Philip Magoulas and Ertan Wittwer, scaling the business rapidly to win the Swiss Economic Award in 2020. After four years of operational growth, the three co-founders successfully sold bestsmile to the Federation of Migros Cooperatives in March 2023. Kubli also co-founded the medical retail venture CARE before bringing his direct entrepreneurial expertise to the investment team at BackBone Ventures. He currently focuses on sourcing early-stage investments across information technology, food technology, disruptive technology, and sustainability sectors within the DACH region and Israel.
