Mara Aspinall

Mara Aspinall is a Partner at Illumina Ventures and the head of Health Catalysts Group. Previously, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ventana Medical Systems, a global division of the Roche Group, and spent 13 years as a senior executive at Genzyme Corporation. During her tenure as President of Genzyme Genetics, she scaled the clinical diagnostics division and successfully facilitated its $1 billion acquisition by LabCorp. In 2017, she co-founded BlueStone Venture Partners to invest in early-stage life sciences, medical device, and health information technology companies operating across the American Southwest. Aspinall holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and maintains governance roles on several corporate boards, including OraSure, Castle Biosciences, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Arizona. Her current focus centers on venture capital investments advancing genomics, precision health therapeutics, and digital diagnostics.
