Madeline Macartney

Madeline Macartney is an Investor at IDEO CoLab Ventures, where she focuses on early-stage startups operating at the intersection of design and emerging technology. In her current role, she targets pre-seed through Series A investments across the distributed web, financial technology, decentralized systems, and the future of work. Macartney actively engages with portfolio founders by providing direct design expertise and utilizing a collaborative co-creation model to build early-stage products. Beyond her core investment activities, she recently moderated a May 2023 panel discussion for Amber Atherton's book launch regarding the rise of virtual communities. This conversation featured prominent technology figures, including Second Life founder Philip Rosedale, The Palace creator Jim Bumgartner, and The Well's Howard Rheingold.
