Ling Ka Yi is a developmental biologist, former Chief Scientific Officer at Shiok Meats, and is currently based in Melbourne, Australia. She earned her bachelor's degree in molecular biology in 2009 and a doctorate in endocrinology and reproductive physiology in 2015 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following her academic training, she completed postdoctoral research at A*STAR and collaborated with prominent stem cell researchers, including James Thomson. In her previous role at Shiok Meats, she helped pioneer cell-based crustacean meat production and contributed to the company securing a US$4.6 million seed funding round. Recognized with the Emtech Asia Innovators Under 35 award in 2020, she exited the agri-tech startup in 2023. Her background centers on applying over a decade of stem cell research expertise toward advancing sustainable food technology and the global alternative protein market.
