Kevin Chu

Kevin Chu is the Chief Technology Officer at Hestus, a Y Combinator-backed startup from the Summer 2024 batch, where he currently leads both engineering and product development initiatives. Prior to assuming his role at Hestus, he spent seven years directing autonomous vehicle engineering operations at Cruise. During his tenure at the autonomous driving company, Chu successfully scaled the core engineering organization from an initial group of 20 to a department of 300 engineers. Before entering the mobility sector, he built his technical foundation by holding engineering roles at multiple early-stage startups focused on energy and medical robotics. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Robotics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Chu's professional background centers on scaling high-impact technical teams and developing complex autonomous systems across the mobility, medical, and energy technology sectors.
