Julia Turc

Julia Turc is the cofounder of Storia, an artificial intelligence startup focused on redefining software engineering through natural language processing. She brings over ten years of specialized industry and academic experience in machine learning and natural language processing to her current entrepreneurial venture. During her academic tenure at the University of Oxford, Turc developed the first bidirectional recurrent neural network utilized for machine translation. She subsequently joined Google Research, where she contributed to the development of foundational machine learning models and core ecosystem technologies. Her engineering work at the corporation included building federated learning systems, developing the artificial intelligence layer for Android, and designing retrieval-augmented generation architectures for the precursors to Google's Gemini. Turc now leverages her extensive background in foundational model development to build commercial applications that automate and enhance the modern software development lifecycle.
