Joshua Wharton

Joshua Wharton is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of QFEX, a financial technology company currently based in London, UK. Before establishing the startup, he studied mathematics at Cambridge University, where he originally met his co-founder in 2016. Wharton subsequently built his expertise in high-frequency trading and quantitative finance by working as a quantitative analyst and software engineer at Tower Research and Citadel. At QFEX, which is backed by Y Combinator as part of its X25 batch, he oversees the technical architecture for a 24/7 global stock exchange platform. The brokerless direct-to-market trading system is currently in a closed beta phase for institutional traders ahead of a planned full public launch in 2025. His current professional focus centers on modernizing traditional market infrastructure by introducing perpetual futures for traditional assets and alternative investments.
