Josh Purtell

Josh Purtell is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Synth AI, an artificial intelligence startup based in San Francisco, California. Founded in the fall of 2024, the two-person company focuses on developing state-of-the-art digital agents for enterprise production use cases. Prior to launching Synth AI, Purtell served as Employee #3 and a Research Scientist at Basis, building artificial intelligence agents for accounting automation. He previously operated as the Technical Co-founder of Politeia, a startup acqui-hired by Halborn, where he subsequently built the machine learning core for their cybersecurity threat intelligence software. Purtell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Yale University, where he conducted time-series machine learning research. His eight years of experience center on bridging machine learning research and scalable product development, focusing on natural language processing and reinforcement learning.
