Joseph Besgen

Joseph Besgen is a Co-Founder at The LLM Data Company, an artificial intelligence data tooling startup based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2025 alongside Gavin Bains and Daanish Khazi, the three-employee enterprise has successfully secured $500,000 in its initial funding round and was accepted into the Y Combinator Spring 2025 batch. Prior to launching his current venture, Besgen led backend engineering operations at Traba and developed scalable platform infrastructure for Facebook's Instagram Business Messaging software application. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with a minor in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of California, Berkeley, and has actively contributed to the open-source Magma platform. Leveraging over nine years of software engineering experience, Besgen currently focuses on building data-centric infrastructure for large language model evaluation, post-training data, and reinforcement learning reward environments.
