John Horton

John Horton is the Co-Founder and CTO of Expected Parrot and a Professor of Applied Economics at the MIT Sloan School of Management, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He established Expected Parrot in 2024 alongside co-founder Robin Horton to develop a platform utilizing AI agents to simulate customer behavior for business applications. Prior to his current academic and corporate roles, Horton served as a Staff Economist at oDesk, which is now known as Upwork. He began his professional career as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from West Point, and subsequently completed a PhD in Public Policy at Harvard University. As a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, his ongoing work focuses on the intersection of labor economics, market design, and artificial intelligence.
