John Goertz is the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Signatur Biosciences, a commercial-stage molecular diagnostics company in the biotechnology sector. He previously served as a National Institutes of Health F32 Postdoctoral Fellow within the Stevens Group at Imperial College London. Goertz earned his PhD in bioengineering from the University of Maryland and a BSc in physics and cell and molecular biology from Seattle University. At Signatur Biosciences, he leads the scientific direction for ISO 13485-compliant manufacturing operations and regulated in vitro diagnostic development. As the co-inventor of the proprietary PCRchitect technology, he applies machine learning approaches to DNA design to expand polymerase chain reaction capabilities for advanced human disease detection. Outside of translating synthetic biology and bioengineering research into clinical applications, he is a dedicated practitioner of Danzan-Ryu Japanese Jujitsu.
