Jay Shah is the founder of an early-stage consumer technology startup developing screenless, AI-native phones for children. Prior to his current venture, he co-founded BufferBox, a consumer hardware and software startup that participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch. The parcel delivery network was acquired by Google in November 2012, which led Shah to join the technology giant to further develop consumer hardware and product initiatives. Before entering the startup ecosystem, he earned a degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo, establishing his technical expertise in hardware integration. Today, Shah leverages his background in product building and acquisitions to engineer devices that provide children with safe access to large language models. His ongoing work centers on creating kid-safe artificial intelligence platforms that facilitate real human connections without the distractions of traditional screens.
