Jason Zhang

Jason Zhang is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Mercury, a financial technology company based in San Francisco, California. Prior to launching the startup banking platform, he served as Vice President of Business Operations at the mobile advertising network Heyzap, working alongside future Mercury Chief Executive Officer Immad Akhund until the company's $45 million acquisition in 2016. At Mercury, Zhang has overseen business operations, compliance, and product development, helping scale the enterprise to a $1.62 billion valuation following a $120 million Series B funding round backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Coatue. Under his operational leadership, the firm expanded its core business-to-business offerings in April 2024 by introducing consumer banking products for founders and investors. Zhang currently focuses on managing financial infrastructure and navigating complex regulatory compliance within the broader technology-driven banking sector.
