Jacob Xiao

Jacob Xiao is the Co-founder of Engineering at Bitrig, an artificial intelligence platform that generates Swift and SwiftUI applications through chat interfaces. Prior to launching Bitrig for early access in August 2025, he spent fifteen years as a software engineer at Apple, where he co-created the SwiftUI declarative framework alongside Kyle Macomber. During his lengthy tenure at the technology corporation, Xiao contributed extensively to core developer tools including UIKit and Xcode, and notably presented SwiftUI to developers at the 2019 Worldwide Developers Conference. Before joining Apple, he independently developed and launched Opacity, a specialized graphical design software tool. He recently authored technical documentation in September 2025 detailing Bitrig's proprietary Swift interpreter, which transitions code directly into bytecode. Xiao currently focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to streamline native iOS application development and expand access to Apple developer frameworks.
