Etienne Bernard is the Co-Founder and CEO of NuMind, an artificial intelligence software startup based in Boston, Massachusetts. He established the company in 2022 to develop custom Natural Language Processing models, securing a $3 million seed funding round co-led by Flybridge. Previously, Bernard spent seven years serving as the Head of Machine Learning at Wolfram Research, where he directed the deployment of automatic learning tools and a user-friendly deep learning framework. His academic background includes a PhD in statistical physics from École Normale Supérieure and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2021, he authored the comprehensive textbook "Introduction to Machine Learning," which was officially published by MIT Press. His current focus remains on transitioning complex machine learning research into accessible, applied software tools for enterprise text understanding and document classification.
