Eric Yuan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zoom Video Communications, currently based in San Jose, California. Before establishing Zoom in 2011, he served as Corporate Vice President of Engineering at Cisco Systems, following its 2007 acquisition of WebEx, where he was a founding engineer managing a global team of 800 personnel. Under his leadership, Zoom secured a $100 million Series D funding round led by Sequoia Capital at a $1 billion valuation in 2016, preceding its April 2019 initial public offering. The software platform subsequently scaled to accommodate hundreds of millions of daily meeting participants during the global pandemic, prompting a recent strategic pivot toward artificial intelligence integration. Yuan leverages his extensive engineering background from Stanford University and WebEx to focus on developing AI-driven enterprise collaboration software and unified communications tools.
