Eric Herrera

Eric Herrera is the CEO and Co-Founder of Maverick Biometals, an industrial biotechnology company focused on developing advanced biological solutions for modern energy systems. In his current executive role, he utilizes synthetic biology and genetic engineering to significantly reduce the production costs and manufacturing complexity of critical infrastructure components, specifically targeting batteries and wind turbines. Previously, Herrera conducted specialized enzymology research at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense through a fellowship program with the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. His diverse professional background includes prior military service in the US Army and US Navy, current service in the state guard, and international academic studies in environmental toxicology across Mexico and Ghana. Herrera currently focuses on bridging laboratory-based genetic engineering with large-scale industrial applications to optimize global energy manufacturing processes.
