Emmett Goodman is the San Francisco-based co-founder of Alkali, a startup established in 2025 that applies artificial intelligence to chemical engineering and process design. Before launching the company, he served as an artificial intelligence engineer at AWS within its GenAI Labs division. In this role, Goodman collaborated directly with Fortune 500 enterprises to explore, develop, and implement complex next-generation generative AI applications. He holds a PhD from Stanford University, providing him with the technical foundation to build specialized industrial technology alongside his co-founder, a former engineer at Shell. At Alkali, Goodman recently led the development of ProcessMate, an AI copilot designed to automate chemical process workflows and reduce costly engineering errors. His current focus centers on bridging advanced enterprise AI tooling with the physical sciences to optimize chemical plant engineering, process scaling, and industrial automation.
